March 2010
The weather is looking great so far this month, so I am hoping this is representative of what our spring and summer will look like this year. The days are getting longer and the sun is out, so I will be starting to hit the streets. Most residents don’t even realize that we will be having an election this coming fall, but I do feel it is important to be able to speak to as many of the residents as I can and get there feedback of what they are looking for as Newmarket grows throughout the next term and beyond. It is a rapidly changing time for Newmarket and it will take balanced, responsive and an active council to take us through this time.
My first set of literature just arrived from the printers, so we will be delivering these to your homes as a first wave. This will be basically letting you know that I am running and where you can contact me. Moving forward through the coming months, I will be repeatedly knocking on doors to speak with you directly.
The last few weeks have been busy with the Optimist Club, including the school’s chess tournament as well as attending Chamber events, such as the Business Women’s Luncheon. As always, I am active with various committees and of course other Business Networking events such as the Chambers and the Business Women of York Region. Joe and I had a terrific evening attending the North Newmarket Lion’s Valentines Dinner and Dance. Money raised at this event went to Assistant Dogs for Children with Autism. I have family and friends that have children with Autism and this can be challenging emotionally and financially. These dogs are amazing and help the children by providing assistance, safety and independence.

Through these events I have met an incredible number of people who are supporting me in this campaign. This support is incredible and drives me even more, so I thank everyone so much for this. Balancing family, my career and this campaign isn’t always easy, but it is much easier with the support of family and friends and especially of my husband, Joe.
If you haven’t already done so, please check out my website where you can read my blog, sign up for lawn signs, sign up for facebook, follow me on twitter and keep up to date on my activities that I attend. Of course, please feel free to forward this off to friends and neighbours and ask them to sign up themselves. Moving forward, if elected, this will be a key communication piece for the residents of Ward 3, something that was promised last election and never materialized. As well as consistent communication will be the promise to have regular ward meetings where we can discuss items of interest one on one on a personal level. As your representative, it is important to be accessible.
