Happy November to everyone! I hope most of you were able to stay warm last night for Halloween. We went out with our regular crew of kids in our neighbourhood and it was definitely one of the colder Halloween’s that I remember in awhile. What an exciting month October was for me, which resulted in a win as Councillor for Ward 3. The official results were posted this week by the Town Clerk with the official count being 1400 and over 60% of the vote. I could not have done this without all of you. Without the voters coming out and showing support by either casting a ballot, phoning friends, talking to neighbours and putting their support behind me I could not have won. I thank you so much for this and I will return the vote of confidence by standing up and representing the residents of Ward 3 and Newmarket in a fashion that you would expect.
Until the official Inaugural Meeting on December 6th, I am Councillor Elect. After that day, I am sure there will be a whirlwind of items that new councillors will need to get caught up on. One of the first things I would like to get started on is my E-letter list. It has already started to grow, so I am hoping you can help me out with this. Using an e-letter correspondence is effective, quick and inexpensive. I am going to encourage as many residents that have access to email to sign up for this method of communication. If you are able to pass this information on to your network of friends that live in Ward 3 that would be great. I can update you on meetings, special items of interest on a regular monthly basis. If there is something of importance that does arise, it can be quickly communicated to you. I will be working on my new website as well, which I hope to have ready to go by the beginning of the New Year. Anyone can sign up for my e-letter through my campaign website still, www.JaneTwinney.ca or they can simply send me an email requesting to sign up and I can add them. I have a list of items that residents have asked me to look at if elected and I will be addressing all of them. It may not happen overnight, but they are definitely a priority; it just may take a few weeks to get things rolling on some of these. I look forward and very excited to work with all of you to make our community the best it can be. Please feel free to send me an email or give me a call if you have any suggestions or ideas. I also look forward to meeting you again in the New Year when I have my first meeting of the year.
